Normally you get what you pay for, this time I got less.
I’m prefacing this review by saying that the quality (or lack thereof) that I received very well may be an anomaly. I purchased this because it was a great price (thanks AR-15 Discounts) for what I thought was a quality manufacturer. This is a lower parts kit, so for the most part it’s just springs and roll pins. Kind of hard to mess that up, but Odin did. The “milspec or better” trigger is the worst I have ever seen. The part of the hammer where the lip meets the discomnector has horrible tooling. It looks like someone tried to mill it out with a dremel tool. Instead of a smooth uniform surface, it’s got two, what I would call grooves, that look like were drilled out with cheap tool. This causes it to stick to the disconnector and not release very smoothly at all. I had to take a file and try and smooth it out, but the tool marks are so bad, even after filing it down for 30 minutes it still wants to grab hold and not let go of the disconnector. It works well enough now for the price I paid, but had I known I would have spent $10 more and got a better generic kit. Oh, and the takedown pins, I had to use a hammer to get them to slide out because the springs are so long that the pressure it puts on the detent allows for zero give. I had to hammer the takedown pins out and slide them back an forth several times until the detent pins created a grove deep enough to allow me to take the pins out of locking position by hand. I’m just glad I’m building a “cheap” AR for fun, because this kit is garbage.
It’s a parts kit.
The fire control was extremely gritty and broke at a even 7lbs. The trigger and hammer pins protruded on one side yet was recessed on the other. All other parts we acceptable. If your doing a tight budget build a little polishing here and there. I’d buy again.
Terrible Parts Kit
Mag release button was threaded slightly out of square, and the disconnector latch on the hammer looked like a mentally challenged eight year old machined it. The trigger won't reset unless I manually push the trigger forward. AR15.com offered a return/refund, but I've already installed the other pins and canabalized an old parts kit to get a working trigger and mag release. I'm not going through the hassle of returning the entire kit. Waiting to hear back from Odin Works to see if I can just swap the hammer and mag release, but it's been a week and no response. SKIP THIS PARTS KIT. I'll take an in spec MIM parts kit to a milled crap parts kit any day.
Just okay
The company is great without a doubt. The lower parts kit was mediocre and was a little too tight on the pins. Trigger assembly was kinda loose and has som slack side to side didn’t fit the pins too well. I usually always use Aero parts kits and they fit easy and work smooth. Wasn’t impressed with Odin works product.
