90's 'Not so Clone Correct' Build using NBS 16″ 5.56 Heavy Contour Chrome Lined 1:7 Midlength Barrel w/ FSB
This company amazes me by providing good, quality products with great discounts. My goal was to build a 90's clone, without the clone correct components which would cost a bunch and involve SBR stamp. Knowing that a mid length barrel with an FSB would be more pleasant to shoot, I took a chance on the NBS 16″ 5.56 Heavy Contour Chrome Lined 1:7 Midlength Barrel w/ FSB. Finding an A2 carry handle upper is next to impossible, unless one is willing to pay outrageous amount of money, for a stripped model. Upon completion of the build, I tested the barrel zeroing iron sights and then utilizing the Aimpoint Comp M2 at 50 yards (36 yard setup was not an option). The results were very pleasing. My gunsmith also examined and scoped the barrel prior to assembly checking for proper head spacing with my bolt. He advised that this was a very nice barrel without going into custom manufacturing. Barrel - NBS 16″ 5.56 Heavy Contour Chrome Lined 1:7 Midlength w/ FSB , NBS Mil-Spec M4 Carbine Stock, and pistol grip purchased from AR15 Discounts. Note: Prior to doing a retro build hand pick your internals, so that your gunsmith does not have to fix another company's errors, thus costing more money for assembly.
