AR-Platform Forced Reset System — Host Weapon Requirements

Forced Reset Systems (FRS/FRT) are precision-engineered components that require a properly configured and tuned host weapon to function reliably. They are not designed as simple drop-in upgrades for every build. To ensure safe and consistent performance, all specified setup and compatibility requirements must be met prior to installation. Failure to meet these requirements may lead to malfunctions, reset issues, or potential component damage.

Read This Before You Buy

  • These systems require specific components and tuning
  • Not all AR‑15 builds are compatible
  • Running unsupported setups will lead to performance issues
  • Returns due to improper configuration may be restricted

All AR‑platform forced reset systems require an M16‑profile (full‑auto profile) bolt carrier group.

  • Standard semi‑auto or lightweight BCGs will not function correctly
  • Material removed from the underside prevents proper reset timing
  • No buffer or gas adjustment can compensate for an incorrect BCG
  • M16‑profile BCGs are legal in semi‑auto rifles

Buffer Weight Requirements

A standard carbine buffer cycles too quickly for proper reset timing.

Minimum starting recommendations:

  • Rifle‑length / Mid‑length gas: H2
  • Carbine‑length gas: H2 minimum, H3 recommended
  • Pistol‑length gas: H3 or heavier
  • Suppressed builds (any gas system): H3 or heavier

If using an adjustable gas block, begin fully open and tune only after reliable operation is achieved with the correct buffer weight.

Lower Receiver Compatibility

Cassette‑Style FRT Systems

  • Install as a self‑contained unit
  • Compatible with standard mil‑spec lowers
  • No low‑shelf or M16 pocket required

Selector‑Based FRS Systems

  • Replace the safety selector with a cam‑style mechanism
  • Require a low‑shelf or M16‑profile trigger pocket
  • High‑shelf lowers block lever travel and are not compatible

If the rear shelf sits at or above the selector hole centreline, the lower is high‑shelf and incompatible without modification.

Fire Control Group Compatibility (Selector‑Based Systems)

  • Works with most mil‑spec triggers
  • Rear of trigger bar must be squared (no U‑notch or relief cut)
  • Some drop‑in triggers may work, others may not — verify before installing

Gas System & Ammunition

Proper gas pressure is critical.

  • Undergassed rifles cause short‑stroking and reset failures
  • Use quality brass‑cased ammunition during setup
  • Avoid steel‑case or low‑pressure ammo during initial tuning
  • Experiment only after consistent operation is confirmed

Final Notice

Forced reset systems reward properly built rifles. Take the time to configure your host weapon correctly before installation. Doing so prevents frustration, avoids unnecessary wear, and ensures the best possible performance.

Disclaimer: Please note that Forced Reset Triggers (FRTs) are used entirely at your own risk. We kindly ask that you carefully review all compatibility and setup requirements above before installation, and consult a qualified gunsmith if you have any questions. By purchasing and installing an FRT, you accept full responsibility for safe, lawful, and proper use. Always follow applicable laws and firearm safety practices — and use FRTs at your own risk. Thank you for your understanding.
