To Detach or Not?
Built my A2 clone with detachable handle as A2 attached uppers were/are VERY hard to get at good price in 2021. I just built A1 clone which has ALL mil-spec parts including upper with handle on it, all pieces lined proper, a great handguard (not plastic; good heat shields), went 20” Government barrel, ect. The A2 has a HB, making rifle a lug! So, I am putting A1 on wall above AK-47 (genuine), but I broke bank with an optic setup on A2 that made me smile! I have too many “don’t damage; for show” rifles, so I just keep the A2 setup for hunting, home defense, targets, and I am set. But I still have no love for that heavy barrel, except for a scenario that I need to expend much ammo and need a barrel that can handle high heat. For the person who commented, dude, that is YOUR RIFLE. The built on handle is aesthetically pleasing, but it doesn’t add to your game. If you paid what I did on the A1, you’d probably let it be more of a collector item, like me. Your weapon is great and has choices - handle, scope, many options. You got a good rifle. BUT…if you are a mod man, change out that plastic hand guard for one of A2 style that has solid build and a heat shield. It’s a part that you want to last, so get a better one! Also, IF you really want the upper with handle attached, there’s good ones here and all over - just be sure to check for M4 feed ramps or it can have fit issues and it may jam up more. Enjoy!
