LR308 Lapping Tool
Was skeptical when ordering after the last review. I lapped two different brands of uppers without any issues. Did not use the flex shaft, turning tool by hand took about ten minuets per receiver to get them evenly flat. This tool does what it was designed to do no issues.

I was a little skeptical at first of Wheeler quality but this tool did what it was made to do. As mentioned above it is same diameter as the upper. I had no problems lapping two uppers. I turned the tool by hand checking progress every couple of minuets and reapplying lapping compound. Took no more than ten to fifteen minuets each to get an even surface all the way around.

Simple, easy, quick. Took me 5 min to lap my receiver by hand. Easy money
USIt Works...but...
I was not sure if this one would work as good as the 5.56mm one I have. It was well packaged and arrived on time despite the holidays. I used this on a off brand upper that is being built as a hunting rifle. I’m not really crazy about the flex shaft but it does work. My only real complaint is that the diameter of the cutting portion is a little small. Also the face portion where you place the lapping compound is not smooth out to the edge. It has a rounded edge thus reducing the overall coverage area for the compound. I tried it on two different uppers with the same results. I would give it 5 starts but with it not able to properly reach the entire upper receiver surface it leaves a little to be desired. If you read this Wheeler, please make the facing a perfect 90° and about .005" greater in diameter.
