As good as it gets...
I have both receivers and the barrel went in more easily on the VKTR receiver. I had to file the pin notch in the BCM to get my WC barrel to go in. The VKTR took a Rosco Mfg barrel right in there with green Loctite. I use a torch for heat; much quicker than a heat gun.
USPerfect for a precision rifle.
I don’t know what the other reviewer thought thermal fit meant. But you have to heat this receiver with a heat gun to at least 175°F to get it to slip onto the barrel extension. That’s what thermal fit means. Once installed it’s jelly tight. Perfect. No shimming, no Loctite. All AR uppers should be made to fit like this. My only wish is that it was available without the forward assist.
Fitment issues
First, I would say the finish and machining on this look really good. However, I ran into 2 issues..... 1- The fitment for the barrel is extremely tight. I had both a Faxon and a VKTR barrel on hand to try and both would not just slide in. I had to use a rubber mallet to tap it in. Towards the end, I needed to do more than just tap it, to get it all the way seated. I assume this is what they mean by "thermal fit"? 2- I originally planned to put this on a Aero lower. I found the hole in the rear lug did not go quite low enough to allow the take down pin to go through on my Aero lower. Luckily I tried a different brand lower and it worked OK. I've never had any other uppers have fitment issues with Aero lowers.
