If an impact is hard enough, the covers will absorb the full blow, cracking or breaking in the process in order to prevent any transmission of shock to the handguard itself. Nice Added Touch
I’ve ordered four packages of these rail covers because each time I received them I found another reason to keep adding them. They not only add a nice touch to the rifles I own but I love the added comfortable grip they offer. Would buy again (if needed) and recommend as an inexpensive purchase.

Placed the rail covers at/around the fore grip. They look nice and allow for a more comfortable, secure grip. Ordered another set to complete a second rifle. Very happy with my purchase. AR15 Discounts has yet to let me down with great prices and great service. Will continue to use their site.
