The NBS .223/5.56 DLC Bolt Carrier Group was designed with strength in mind. Starting with a 9310 Steel Bolt, which is aircraft-grade material, this bolt has a high core strength rating, a high fatigue strength, and a high hardenability rating. 9310 steel, when treated properly, is about 7% better than Carpenter 158 steel, so you know that you will have a dependable BCG, when you drop this into your rifle.
This NBS BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) has been DLC Coated, so that it can provide a long-lasting experience, and provide a significant upgrade to your AR-15.
DLC is quickly becoming one of the most desirable finishes for critical weapon components for the following reasons:
- Hardness (Rockwell) – Greater hardness rating compared to unpolished Nickel Boron (90RC vs 82RC)
- Coefficient of Friction – Lower coefficient of friction compared to Nickel Boron (.15 vs .5-.8)

So nice, I bought twice
Both bcgs look great, surprisingly there are machine markings that differ between the two but nothing performance related. Oddly enough the firing pin retainer clip hole is bored much more on one of them. Added a Lantac SmoothCam and sprinco extractor springs (hugely different) and survived the first range trip without any signs of wear whatsoever. Cleans up very easily, even compared to my psa NiB bcg. Overall would buy again.

All I want in a BCG is reliability and ease of cleaning. 5 stars in both categories for this item. Craftsmanship seems solid. I could literally wipe it clean with a paper towel. The DLC is very slick.
United StatesAfter 500 rounds. May be a lemon?
I did mention in a previous review, I bought 2 of these and noticed different machining marks and firing pin retaining pin cutout depths. Well the one in use on the 556 has just over 500 rounds on it. It still looks brand new on the exterior of the carrier. However I was cleaning the carrier and during one of mu checks the gas rings failed their check. I had notoced it degrading before but did not expect this at 500 rounds. I decided to check the wear on the free bore and bolt tail section in the carrier with a borescope and noticed it was wearing quite rapidly. Already through any DLC coating that made it in there. It looks pitted, rough/gouged and even discolored. I don't know if this is because of proper application of the vapor deposition dlc coating not getting the inside surfaces. I don't know how much this wear will continue at this rate but feel as though I shouldn't have to be worried about this at only 500 rounds. I hesitate to recommend.

When it arrived the bolt was hard to move. Had to take it apart and clean it completely. Disassembled it to get the grit out and lube it as it also showed up dry. At the end it works flawlessly. Nice unit
