While muzzle device blast shields and flash cans are nothing new in the shooting industry, The Indian Creek Design BFD (Blast Forwarding Device) is unique and unmatched in its ability to allow the user to utilize virtually ANY muzzle device from today’s most popular muzzle brakes to the venerable A2 flash hider, and still be able to re-direct concussive forces that occur downrange.
Enter the ICD BFD.
Designed to fit over any 1″ or smaller outside diameter muzzle device, the BFD takes the exhaust from the muzzle device and directs it downrange after it has done its duty in reducing recoil. While the BFD is in no way a sound suppressor, it also directs the harshest sound waves away from the shooter and the firing line in the same manner as the blast waves are redirected. Various testers and users have found that the need for multiple levels of hearing protection are reduced while using the BFD.
The ICD BFD has been extensively tested in various configurations, with various muzzle devices, and on a myriad of calibers up to and including the 7mm Remington Magnum with excellent results.

USExcellent BFD
I’m very impressed with the simplicity of installation and also the way it looks, and although I haven’t shot with it yet I have no doubt that it’ll do exactly what it was intended to do.

The BFD is freaking amazing!
This device is one of the most popular products sold here given how often it was not in stock. After missing the last time it was back in stock, I decided to check back here every morning to see if it came back in and I finally snagged one. Now, I wanted to install the Venom Defense 3-port Compensator (VDC) I got in combination with the BFD. My reason for choosing the VDC was based on its performance in reducing recoil (72.68% reduction) and its price (under $70). What I was using prior to this was a slim flash can that I also got from here. While it did direct the blast downrange, it didn’t reduce the noise that much but also produced more recoil. Installing the BFD in combination with the VDC was a bit of an adventure because the VDC must be mounted in one position only (see photo below). I finally got everything positioned correctly using a pair of lock washers between the base of the BFD and the VDC and took it to the range yesterday. At first, I was afraid it would interfere with the operation of the VDC, but boy was I wrong! The BFD was freaking amazing and did everything I hoped it would do. I couldn't believe the reduction in recoil, muzzle rise and blast noise that this combination produced as compared to the little flash can I was using. It actually felt like I was shooting a .22 rifle instead of an AR-15 pistol! I enjoyed shooting it so much that I didn't get a chance to try it without the BFD cone attached just to see how noisy it would have been. I may go back and try it again without the cone when there’s none around to complain about the noise. OTOH, why would I use it without the BFD cone given it does everything I need it to do? The only downside I found was a small increase in the amount of gases blown back through the ejection port which is a typical characteristic of short-barreled rifles and pistols.
