Faxon’s MATCH SERIES of barrels takes our renowned performance and value up a notch.
Manufactured 100% in-house from gun-barrel-quality bar-stock, the Match Series starts with 416-R in 5R rifling. 5R is a hybrid rifling, with lands opposite grooves and reduced sharp angles that reduces jacket deformation increasing velocity and easy cleaning. We chamber our Match Series in .223 Wylde, a hybrid chamber that the 5R rifling takes full advantage of. Better accuracy through less bullet jump, but fully and individually MPI tested for your safety. After rigorous testing, the barrels are Nitride treated inside and out, locking in the bore, improving barrel life, and keeping the elements at bay.
The extension is coated in Nickel Teflon which maintains incredible dry lubricity, corrosion resistance, and with the coating, tightens up fit between the extension and receiver – again improving upon accuracy. Combined, the Match Series of barrels are ready for when duty calls or the buzzer beeps with unrivaled performance value.

love the barrel weight on this heavy barrel
Maryland require heavy barrels for their 223/556 AR-15 barrels. I loved that Faxon fluted heavy barrel are about 8 ounces than standard 16" HBAR
love the barrel weight on this heavy barrel
Unfortunately living in Maryland requires 223/556 AR-15 to use/have heavy barrel for our AR's here. This was my first time building an AR and I am on my learning curve. Originally I bought a 16" HBAR Ballistic Advantage mid length gas system barrel but was it 35oz! Had my gun shop but it together and I could not believe how barrel heavy that AR-15 was even with a 16" barrel (I'm coming from a hunter background who's used bolt actions). I did some more google searches and discovered that this Faxon fluted heavy barrel is Maryland legal and only 27 ounces! That's 8 oz or 1/2 lb lighter! So I decided to order it. It was delivered quickly. The difference in weight just in barrels was amazing and that weight difference transferred over to the assemble rifle! I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but the sheer difference and weight savings is worth it to me.

Faxon builds a great product that is not at Gucci gun prices. I really like the weight of this barrel. I will have to do a follow up after a couple hundred more rounds. So far the groups are all sub-moa ( once I narrowed it down to the rounds it liked, expected that ) pretty good for a 16" at the distances I am shooting. i will definitely purchase a Faxon again.

I received the barrel in a timely manner. Fit and finish looked excellent. After lapping the upper receiver, the barrel extension fit very snug, compared to other barrels, which is excellent. I zeroed the carbine for a 50 yard zero and achieved a litter better than MOA. I would have expected a little better accuracy out of this barrel. I tried various bullets from 53-75 grains of factory ammunition. The 62 grain appeared to be the best performance. I believe you can achieve this level of performance from a cheaper barrel.
