Not as advertised
No fault of ar15discounts.com, in fact I'm pleased with them, shipping was in a timely manner with no issues. They advertise it just as one horse does, so that isn't their fault either. The barrel is not a socom profile. It tapers to .6875 and a socom upper should have a barrel diameter of .725"+ up to the gas block. The handguard also has a damaged spot that looks like was caught by qc because it appears they used a sharpie to fill in the mark. So good and bad on that, since it appears they do perform qc, but, it's also inexpensive, so It's hard to expect perfection. Otherwise it seems well made and a good price for what you pay. Just don't expect it to actually be a socom profile. I took this picture before I measured it, because I could see as soon as I took the handguard off that it was not as thick as it should be. It's in between the diameter of a government profile of .625" and a socom, so diet socom? I would have rated it 4 stars if the diameter was socom, and 5 stars if it wasn't for the very noticeable chipped spot with sharpie or whatever they used. I didn't want to go as low as 1 star because like I said, so far it seems well made for the price, we will see in the long run. I'm really big on getting what was advertised. If it had been advertised some other way as thicker than government, but not as socom, I still would have bought it and rsted it higher, because I wanted to try something from the old Anderson employees.
