Nice Receiver Set
Odin produces high quality gear, including this receiver set. The tolerances are just right, not overly tight and not sloppy loose. I don't normally care for elaborate machining, unless it serves a purpose. In this case, I suppose there is a certain amount of practicality to the extra machine work. It is a bit lighter than most receiver sets, and the extra hole for the ambidextrous bolt release is pretty nice. Do you need a milled receiver set and ambidextrous bolt release? Of course not, but for me it is worth every penny.

Receiver design cuts are cool looking, but the surface finish isn't great, you can clearly see uneven steps left by the milling bit at the bottom of the lightening cuts. The worst part is the fit between upper and lower! Using feeler guages between the upper and lower there is between .007" to .009" of clearance between upper receiver lugs and the lower receiver bosses. I Sent mine back to Odin so they could remedy this, and they told me all of the uppers and lowers they had fit exactly the same... and there was nothing they could do. This set does have a tensioning screw, but you have to crank it down soo tight that the rear takedown pin doesn't come out unless you loosen the screw. Which requires removing the pistol grip. So unless you want to remove your pistol grip every time you need to take down your rifle, I recommend avoiding this one. Odin is usually pretty good, I'm very disappointed in this product, especially for the price! I have a ZEV receiver set that was the same price, and is much higher quality, the upper and lower fit is so tight they snap together and stay together even without pins. There is absolutely zero slop even without tightening down the set screw. Having slop between the upper and lower isn't great for accuracy. It looks cool from 5' though, any closer and you can see the s**** surface finish.
