The ODIN Works 16.1 416R Stainless Steel Medium profile barrel comes chambered in the genius .223 Wylde, so you can feed it a steady diet of both .223 and 5.56 NATO rounds without worrying about pressure differentials. This barrel includes an adjustable gas block & a free intermediate length gas tube, and is designed with an intermediate length gas system. It comes standard with a medium profile cut to the barrel, M4 feed ramps, 1/2×28 thread pattern that will fit most AR-15 muzzle devices, and a 1:8 twist rate with button-cut rifling (1:8 twist means the bullet makes one full rotation every 8 inches while inside the barrel). This hand-lapped barrel weighs about 1.95 pounds and comes with a 1 MOA guarantee from the factory.

NOTE: 416R is a Crucible brand steel and it was formulated specifically for barrels. Most types of steel, including normal 416SS are not designed to be used in freezing temperatures. But this steel was designed to operate in arctic temperatures, up to -40F. 416R also has greater accuracy potential than normal 416SS and 4150 steel due to its ability to take highly defined rifling and machining cuts.

I was actually reading about gear that people use and the guy said he liked this barrel because it was accurate. I assembled an upper and took it to the range to get it on paper with a red dot. Only 25 yards and off a bench but my 50++ year old eyes put 5 rounds in one hole at 6 o'clock. No problems with function from the gas system either. I look forward to shooting this more.

I just purchased this barrel for my new upper assembly to run in 3 gun competition, first I was looking for a 16 inch barrel easy to swing in and out of bays while rocking steel plates at 300 yrds and had a 223 Wylde chamber for accuracy plus a 1-8 twist for multi weight bullets 55gr up to 77 gr. Now the intermediate gas system is a bonus for a little softer shooting when tuned properly using the adjustable gas block that's FREE with the barrel....nice! Today I finished the build and ran the gun thru break-in, this barrel has produced sub MOA accuracy with my handloads of 75gr, 77gr HPBT ammunition coming in at 0.5 inch 3 shot groups at 100yrds this delivers performance at a great price. Now if you want to spend more that's fine but this barrel at $300 is a solid piece of hardware that can compete with the best costing twice as much and you get quality along with value.
