Criterion Barrels 12.5" .223 Wylde Core Phosphate/Chrome-Lined Carbine Length Barrel - 15120-CR6
In stock
Our CORE Series barrels are designed with tactical shooters in mind. These barrels are built to address issues with weight distribution, balance, and handling of traditional profiles, while increasing performance through consistent harmonics and uniform heat dissipation.
The CORE Series feature a modern, continuous taper profile that eliminates steps and harsh variations in diameter. The steel is redistributed where it is needed most: surrounding the chamber. Added weight over the chamber absorbs heat evenly during hard use and moves the balance of the rifle closer to the body for increased control. This is optimal for maintaining balance when used with modern accessories like Low Power Variable Optics (LPVO’s), weapon-mounted lights, suppressors, clip-on night vision devices, and IR lasers; these components boost the capabilities of the rifle, but can hinder the shooter’s performance by increasing front-end weight. The front end of the CORE Series remains light and fast for better handling, balance, and speed.
The CORE Series helps you handle real-world applications by maintaining exceptional performance and rugged reliability during hard use. These barrels work for you wherever mobility is a priority and performance is essential.

Beautifully Crafted
I recently picked up this barrel over the 4th of July. Upon receiving it, I immediately cleaned the barrel and inspected it, both externally and internally with a borecam. I found the barrel taper to be perfect, gas port to be clean with no burrs and the bore to be immaculate. The chrome lining is fantastic and you can see that it was hand lapped. I installed the barrel and put some rounds down range. At this time, I've only shot 100 rounds in 3 sessio. For barrel break in and preliminary groups. If found this barrel to be extremely consistent. I've shot Fiocchi 55gr, PMC Xtac 55gr xm193, Australian Outback 55gr SBK, Winchester 62gr m855, Australian Outback 69gr SMK, & AAC 77gr OTM. Fiocchi has been consistent at around 2", PMC Xtac at around 1.5", Australian Outback 55gr SBk at around 1.5" Winchester m855 at 3", Australian Outback 69gr SMK .90"-1" and AAC 77gr OTM around 1.3" I'll continue my testing but currently I'm very happy. Not just with its groupings but the way the gun balances with a suppressor, light and laser aiming module compared to my previous Triarc barrel. Lastly, this barrel is gassed perfectly. Running a standard lo pro gas block, unsuppressed ejection is right at 4-4:15 and suppressed with the AAC Ranger 5 it's right at 3:00, using an A5 buffer system with a Sprinco Green Spring and a Vltor A5-0 buffer.
