Update
I have took this build out several times and I am very pleased. I paired this barrel with a Mega forged receiver set and a Zev handguard. I also used a CMC 3.5 pound component trigger (amazing trigger). I did not do any type of break in period with the barrel. However when I got the barrel I inspected it with a bore scope and gave it a nice oil bath and rub down. It has performed almost flawlessly so far. I have about 350 plus rounds through it. I am not one of those "sub MOA snipers" that shoots .35 inch groups consistently and appear to pop up in every barrel review and Reddit forum. I don't even measure it, but it is a nice tight group every time I shoot. I can put 20 shots in the size of a small dinner plate at 50 to 75 yards from a prone position. I spent 23 years in the Army, that will get the job done, believe me. So I would say I am more than pleased with this barrel and I trust it with my life. Is it a match worthy sub MOA barrel, maybe, possibly, could be? I know I am very pleased with it so far. If you are interested then I would say go for it.
Ballistic Advantage 16" .223 Wylde SPR Fluted
The barrel was easy to install and fit like a glove! I looked up the "break-in" instructions and did just that. The group was much smaller than the factory barrel. I'll be taking it out tomorrow to continue trying different ammo.
Amazing accuracy- blown away
This barrel is truly impressive. I built a rifle on a billet receiver and it was a thermal fit. This barrel loved 62 grain black sheep ammo but holy cow- its favorite was 77 grain bonefrog 5.56 ammo. It was ridiculously accurate. I was sighting in a new scope and this barrel performed so well. Highly recommend.
Impressed with the accuracy
I used this barrel for a new AR build - had zero problems with the installation into an Aero M4E1 upper with an Aero Mod 4 handguard. The finish is very nice, and the feed ramps and crown looked good to my eye. Got to shoot it recently at my most recent visit to my indoor range (which has 100 yard rifle lanes) and got really good performance. Didn't bother with any break in procedure. Used 55gr white box to sight in the scope (1-8 LPVO) at 50 yrds. Then switched to Frontier 68gr BTHP and put 13 rounds all within a 1 inch square. Pushed out to 100 yrds and switched to Frontier 75gr and put 3 rounds within about 0.8". Unfortunately I had to leave at that point, so didn't get more time to shoot this barrel, but I'm very impressed so far. I'm sure it's more accurate than I am.
Perfect balance
The weight saved with the flutes on this BA SPR Fluted SS 1:8 barrel makes for perfect balance in my rifle build. The finish is excellent. I have a few BA barrels and they are all very precise shooters. However, my 1/2-28 muzzle device would not initially thread onto the barrel. This same device threads onto every other 1/2-28 threaded barrel I own. Instead of chasing the threads on the barrel, I opted to chase the threads on the muzzle device with a class 2 tap. After that, the muzzle device threaded on with minimal resistance (still minor) and torqued perfectly. Overall, I still give this barrel 5 stars.
