Challenges with installing the springs and detents for the rear takedown pin and pivot pin.
There is a flaw in the design in my opinion. With a standard AR-15 there is a port where the buttstock collar tube lock goes that holds the spring and detent for the rear take down pin. When you put a spring in that port, maybe a quarter of that spring will be compressed when it is covered. This AR-10 lower did not follow convention. The spring and dentent for the rear take down on this platform is in the same area where the spring and detent is used for the safety. The spring that is used for the rear detent is longer than the spring used for the safety. This is an issue because when you compress the spring using the pistol grip, there is only one hole for the safety spring - which again is shorter than the spring used for the rear take down. Compressing that spring was - very naughty word. I actually damaged the spring trying to do. Ultimately with some very foul language that my Lord nor my wife approved of, I got the grip on while compressing two springs and two detents. Sad part is, I have the slights bit of slop in the upper receiver and, well, I just need to be a better man and take off the grip, knowing the springs are going to jump out like two ninja's. I already bought another set of springs. Besides that - you kind of need an AERO lower if you're working with an AERO upper. AR10's are funny like that and don't really allow for mixing parts with other venders. All and all I'm satisfied with the lower. Oh, and putting in the pivot spring and detent was a pain in rear too. I really wish there was a mil-spec standard, but complaining solves nothing. I am going to try and cut the take down spring a little to see if that helps. It will either work, or it wont.
